MB Man Arrested for Possessing Stolen Goods

Ryan Doherty was in possession of stolen property, including two iPods taken within the last 30 days from vehicles in Manhattan Beach, according to the Manhattan Beach Police Department.

A Manhattan Beach resident on probation for theft and drug-related offenses has been charged with possessing stolen property and narcotic paraphernalia, and for violating his parole, according to the MB Police Department.

Ryan Doherty, 23, was stopped by MB Police Officers for a vehicle code violation on Friday, Dec. 31 and the officers discovered narcotic paraphernalia and property they suspected was stolen. Doherty was booked on a charge of possessing stolen property and released after posting a $20,000 bond.

A few days later, MB Detectives searched Doherty's home, recovering suspected stolen property and narcotic paraphernalia. Doherty was arrested and charged with possession of stolen property, possession of narcotic paraphernalia, and a violation of probation. He was released after posting $100,000 bond.

Two of the iPods found in his possession have been confirmed as having been stolen from vehicles in Manhattan Beach within the last 30 days, said Stephanie Martin, public information officer for MBPD.

Detectives are working to locate and identify additional victims and/or property owners, according to a statement.
