MBPD Makes 37 DUI Arrests in 31 Days

The Labor Day weekend accounts for a large number of arrests.

From Aug. 31 through Sept. 30, the Manhattan Beach Police Department made 37 arrests for driving under the influence of an alcoholic beverage or drug (23152 (a) Vehicle Code), according to department reports.

Fifteen of those arrests were made during the Labor Day weekend, from Saturday, Sept. 1 at 1:26 a.m through Tuesday, Sept. 4 at 1:26 a.m. as culled from the reports.

The majority of DUI arrests were made between the hours of 9:42 p.m. and 3:56 a.m. Arrest times outside of those hours were at 6:16 a.m., 7:21 a.m., 4:41 p.m., 6:28 p.m., 7:08 p.m. and 7:53 p.m.

Twenty-four arrests happened on Saturdays and Sundays and five on Labor Day Monday. Otherwise, four arrests were made on Fridays, two on Mondays, and one each on Tuesday and Wednesday.

Of the 37 arrests, 16 included an arrest under vehicle code 23152 (b): "It is unlawful for any person who has 0.08 percent or more, by weight, of alcohol in his or her blood to drive a vehicle."
