Police Release Photo of Taxi Driver

The Torrance man is thought to have sexually assaulted female passengers who rode in his cab. MBPD has now released his name and photo.

Sameh Shenouda, 38, of Torrance has been identified by Manhattan Beach Police as the taxi driver arrested on Nov. 21 on suspicion of sexual assault. The arrest stems from an alleged Aug. 19 incident that took place near Second Street and Meadows Avenue in Manhattan Beach.

MBPD first released news of the arrest, earlier this month, minus Shenouda's name or photo in an attempt to generate potential leads and possible other victims minus

As of Wednesday, they had not located any other potential victims to add to the case file they will present to the district's attorney's office in January, said MBPD Detective Michale Rosenberger. The DA will decide if there is sufficient evidence to charge Shenouda.

MBPD has taken one new report and fielded phone inquiries from law enforcement agencies and the public, however, the latest report, filed after news of Shenouda's arrest was published, is "less likely than I thought before" to be associated with Shenouda.

Shenouda drives for United Taxi, which Rosenberger said has been "very cooperative" with the ongoing investigation.

Rosenberger said Shenouda conceivably could face two counts of sexual assault, one from the MB incident, the other from an August incident in Redondo Beach, and is still looking for potential victims.
