Police Say Armed Suspect Is Dangerous

Since November of last year, the male robber has hit Walgreens and CVS drug stores, in cities that span from Manhattan Beach to Long Beach. His latest crime was Sunday in Lomita.

A man suspected of committing a dozen armed robberies throughout Los Angeles County remains on the loose, and sheriff's officials today released surveillance photos in the hope that someone might recognize him.

The suspect is believed responsible for robberies at several Walgreens and CVS drug stores in Manhattan Beach, Hermosa Beach, Carson, Torrance, Norwalk and Long Beach since November 2011, according to the Sheriff's Headquarters Bureau.

The most recent robbery occurred Sunday at a CVS store in Lomita, said Lt. Kent Wegener of the Major Crimes Bureau, who said the suspect carries a semi-automatic pistol and should be considered armed and dangerous.

"This is one of the most active armed robbers in Los Angeles County this year," Wegener said. "We are hoping that the public will help us identify him before his violence escalates."

The suspect, who appears to be in his 30s, is black, 6 feet to 6 feet 2 inches tall and 225 to 250 pounds, with salt-and-pepper hair he wears under a baseball cap, according to the sheriff's department. The suspect wore a green reflective safety vest during the earlier robberies, investigators said.
