2 Held in Burglary After Resident Calls for Help

A resident in the 1700 block of Gates Avenue calls police after hearing footsteps in the home.

Manhattan Beach police arrested two burglary suspects Wednesday night after responding to a call from a resident who found a downstairs window broken and heard footsteps in a bedroom inside the home in the 1700 bock of Gates Avenue.

Richard Deion Jackson, 18, and Damian Carnell Gray, Jr., 19, of Los Angeles, were apprehended after officers from surrounding agencies joined in the search for the burglars, who fled the home at about 6:10 p.m. after being startled by the resident.

A witness told Manhattan Beach police that he saw two males running eastbound on Curtis Avenue from Aviation Boulevard into Redondo Beach. According to Manhattan Beach Public Information Officer Stephanie Martin, one suspect was found walking in the area and another was found hiding in a resident's garage.

While checking the residential area where the suspects were found, police located a purse and gun believed to have been stolen from the Manhattan Beach residence.
