Truck Driver Arrested For Assault With a Deadly Weapon

The driver punched a construction worker and threw a sledgehammer at him, according to police.

A verbal dispute over a closed road escalated to an incident between a construction worker and the driver of an 18-wheel rig Tuesday before noon near 7th St. and Ocean Drive, said Manhattan Beach Police Public Information Officer Stephanie Martin.

The dispute arose over a closed street. The driver of the 18-wheeler was arrested by police for assault with a deadly weapon after he punched a construction worker and threw a sledgehammer at him, she said.

Paramedics were called to assist the construction worker, who armed himself with a shovel after the driver punched his face.
