Woman Sitting in Car Inside Garage Robbed at Gunpoint

Police track the suspects and engage in a low-speed pursuit.

A woman sitting in her car in her garage last night in Manhattan Beach was robbed at gunpoint by a man and woman who approached her, demanding her money. The woman gave them her cellphone and purse.

The incident happened around 9:50 p.m. Thursday in the 3100 block of Manhattan Ave., said the Manhattan Beach Police Department Friday.

Police were able to determine the location of the victim's cell phone using tracking software.

Police also saw a car heading east on Rosecrans Avenue with two people inside who matched the descriptions of the robbers. 

When officers attempted to stop the vehicle, the driver led police on a low-speed chase into Hawthorne. Pursuing officers were able to disable the vehicle using the Pursuit Intervention Technique.

Police arrested three individuals and recovered the victim's property and a black semi-automatic replica BB-gun from inside the vehicle the suspects were traveling in.

The man has been identified as a 17-year-old from Hawthorne, and the women are Faily Chavez, 19, Los Angeles, and Sharhonda Cerise Tyler, 24, San Pedro.

Manhattan Beach police are asking anyone who has been the victim of a similar crime or has seen any of the arrested individuals in the area are asked to call the department's Watch Commander at (310) 802-5170.
