Police Continue to Investigate Shooting in Manhattan Beach

SWAT responded to the incident 4 a.m. Saturday.

Police are trying to determine if the solo resident of a Manhattan Beach home where shots were fired and blood and broken glass were found Saturday morning is a victim or a suspect, said Manhattan Beach Police Det. Sgt. Paul Ford on Saturday evening.

Police have reached out to the resident by phone, left voicemails, and contacted the resident's mother and acquaintances to no avail. Ford said police were hoping to receive information that would "send us in any direction we need to go."

As of Sunday morning, the resident still has not been located, Capt. Andy Harrod said.

What police do know is that shots were fired inside the residence at 3309 Bayview Ave.; a rear sliding glass door was broken from inside the home; some blood was found; no one was inside when a SWAT team entered the unit; and they've not been able to locate the resident with efforts that have included checking hospitals.

Ford said the shots were not fired into the home, ruling out the possibility of a drive-by shooting. He declined to provide much detail other than to report more than one shell casing was found inside the residence, and the blood held a "good possibility" of being connected with the shooting and glass breakage.
