Building a Local Legacy

A group seeks to preserve Manhattan Beach's culture and heritage one building at a time.

Since 2006, the Manhattan Beach Cultural Heritage Conservancy has been encouraging the recognition and protection of landmarks that represent the city's history and culture. The Conservancy has already applied for five local residential homes to be listed on the National Register of Historic Places in California. Thus far, the city's only officially recognized historic structure is the Manhattan Beach Pier.

To be eligible for historical recognition by the City of Manhattan Beach, the following criteria must be met:

1)    The structure must be at least 50 years old.
