City Council Nomination Period Begins Tuesday

Residents seeking to run for office can begin filing their papers this week.

The nomination period for West Hollywood residents wishing to run for a seat on city council will begin Tuesday at 8 a.m.

The deadline to file nomination papers is Dec. 7 at 5 p.m. and so far, two community activists, Steve Martin and Sam Borelli, have announced that they will enter the race.

Current Mayor Jeffrey Prang and Councilman John Duran are both up for re-election and Prang officially announced his campaign for re-election on Sunday.

Prang has served on Weho City Council for 15 years and Duran for 11 years.

Martin served on the council from 1994 to 2003, and both he and Borelli will make their formal announcements this week.

In order to campaign for city council, potential candidates must be 18 years of age, a resident of West Hollywood, and a registered voter within the city. In addition, potential candidates are required to gather at least 20 signatures from Weho residents.

The city's election will be held on March 5, 2013.

OK gang! It is seriously time to oust both Duran and Prang ONCE and for all! You'll be doing them a favor as well as giving someone else an opportunity to bring some different CREATIVE ideas for the CREATIVE city. It's time for these men to move on in life and do something else.
