Edison, City Facilities, 6-Man, Meeting Management on City Council Agenda

A Manhattan Beach teen who saved a man from drowning will be recognized at the City Council meeting Tuesday night.

Topics on City Council's agenda for Tuesday night include meeting management, strategic planning, open government initiatives and Southern California Edison. The meeting is set to begin at 6 p.m. in council chambers at 1400 Highland Ave.

Manhattan Beach has been dogged with power outages, with Edison reporting 129 from June 2011 to June 2013. Sixty of those were planned outages, the remainder unplanned. Crew repairs accounted for 20, blown transformers for 19 and 17 were unexplained.

Other agenda items include a staff report on the condition of city facilities, the city's sculpture garden program and the Charlie Saikley 6-Man Beach Volleyball Tournament.

An early order of business will be the commendation of A.J. Wilson, a Manhattan Beach teen who saved a man from drowning earlier this year.
