Jenkins, Hogin Honored by Legal Publication

The husband-and-wife city attorney team lives in Manhattan Beach and represents cities that include Hermosa Beach, Palos Verdes Estates, Rolling Hills, West Hollywood and Malibu.

Hermosa Beach City Attorney and Manhattan Beach resident Michael Jenkins has been named one of California’s Top 25 Municipal Lawyers, as listed in the state’s leading legal publication, the Daily Journal

The publication lauded Jenkins for his work for the city of Hermosa Beach as well as for the education and training he provides in the field of municipal law.

Jenkins, who is a partner in the Manhattan Beach based law firm Jenkins & Hogin, LLP, joined his partner and wife Christi Hogin on the Top 25 list. Each was profiled in a special Municipal Law supplement in the Dec. 5 edition.

Hogin serves as city attorney for Malibu, Palos Verdes Estates and Lomita, and Jenkins for the cities of Hermosa Beach, Rolling Hills, West Hollywood and Diamond Bar.

Said Hermosa Beach Mayor Jeff Duclos, “Congratulations, Mr. City Attorney on this well-deserved recognition as a leader in municipal law. For 17 years, the city and a parade of council members – myself included – have relied on Mike to educate them on law and meeting protocol, as well as for providing insight into a maze of legal matters. We are very fortunate to have him as the city's legal counsel."

In addition to his work as city attorney, the Daily Journal recognized Jenkins, who has taught local government law at the University of Southern California for close to 30 years, for his work educating and training others.

Jenkins offers legal training for newly elected mayors and council members through an annual presentation at the League of California Cities, and has organized training programs with the league’s city attorney’s department and the Los Angeles County City Attorney’s Association, according to a City of Hermosa Beach press release. He serves as general counsel on a pro bono basis to the South Bay Cities Council of Governments.

Jenkins and Hogin founded their law firm in 2001 to specialize in the practice of municipal law.
