Here's what happened last night.

8:25 p.m.

The crowd in Joslyn Center is milling about. City Council candidates Wayne Powell, Mitch Ward, Mark Burton and Tony D'Errico are here. Mark Lipps and Viet Ngo, the other two candidates for the three available seats may be but I've yet to see them.

8:27 p.m.

8:35 p.m.

With 6 Vote By Mail precincts reporting, incumbent Wayne Powell is the leader with 1,039 votes, followed by Tony D'Errico's 714, Mark Burton's 683, Mark Lipps' 612, Mitch Ward's 563 and Viet Ngo's 86.

8:45 p.m.

Another precinct's Vote By Mail ballots have been counted and Powell remains in the lead with 227 votes. His closest competitor in this precinct VBM was Ward with 143, followed by D'Errico's 139 and Burton's 132.

9:23 p.m.

With 2,806 ballots counted, Powell leads with 2,000 votes, followed by Burton with 1,363, D'Errico with 1,196, Ward with 1,185, Lipps with 1,067 and Ngo with 159.

9:26 p.m.

They're finished with VBM ballots and moving into precinct votes cast today.

9:34 p.m.

Latest tally shows Powell ahead with 2,677 votes, Burotn with 1,914, D'Errico with 1,664, Ward with 1,461, Lipps with 1,410 and Ngo with 218.

Be right back. They just announced another precinct to squeals of delight from Burton's camp.

9:37 p.m.

More squeals of happiness from Burton supporters. Powell leads with 3,047 votes, followed by Burton's 2,229, D'Errico's 1,879, Ward's 1,618, Lipps' 1,607 and Ngo's 236.

More numbers just announced. This time to a "yeah" from Burton camp. Burton himself has been pacing the floor.

9:40 p.m.

Powell is ahead with 3,412 votes, Burton has 2,562, D'Errico 2,076, Lipps 1,805, Ward 1,789 and Ngo, which hasn't been seen tonight at Joslyn, 250. All the other candidates are here.

9:43 p.m. 

Some of the notable MB residents here are James Gill, Steve Napolitano, Kathleen Paralusz, Bad Jacobson...

9:46 a.m.

Powell and Burton win! VBM and provisional ballots, 550, will be counted by Friday and/or have a major update Friday with canvas on Monday instead of Friday.

9:49 p.m.

Results are Powell with 3,608, Burton with 2,691 and D'Errico with 2,157. About 500 more ballots remain to be verified and counted. Lipps has 1,898, Ward 1,889 and Ngo 265.

9:51 p.m.

Those final untallied votes will tell for sure if D'Errico comes in third and wins a seat! Lipps and Ward are still in the running, conceivably, until Friday or Monday.

9:53 p.m.

Steve Napolitano is interviewing Russ Lesser with Brad Jacobson filming. Napolitano has been interviewing candidates and residents all night.

9:54 p.m.

9:56 p.m.

MB Patch Facebook post: Powell and Burton win! D'Errico has 3rd seat for now. About 500+ more ballots need to be counted by Friday or Monday to determine actual final results, but Powell and Burton are not in jeopardy even if they don't claim a single vote out of those 500+.
