Manhattan Beach Votes

Several hotly contested races and propositions bring residents to the polls Tuesday, with most citing "civic responsibility" as the main draw.

Manhattan Beach residents took some time out of their daily routines, lunch breaks and Game 3 of the NBA Finals on Tuesday to decide the fate of five propositions and the shape of their party's ticket come November.

Though precinct workers said the turnout seemed relatively high for a primary election, exact figures won't be available for at least a month. After statewide elections, the secretary of state certifies the results from each of California's 58 counties, compiling detailed statistics that are available 39 days later.
