Muratsuchi, Huey Advance to November Election

The two candidates for the 66th Assembly District seat receive the most votes in the June 5 primary election, defeating Nathan Mintz.

Democrat Al Muratsuchi and Republican Craig Huey will face each other in the November election for the 66th Assembly District, according to the Los Angeles County Registrar-Recorder.

Muratsuchi, of Torrance, and Huey, of Rolling Hills Estates, ran neck and neck much of Tuesday night, finishing with 40.9% and 38.54% of the vote, respectively, crushing Republican Nathan Mintz. Mintz had received 20.56% of the votes by the time ballots from all 273 precincts had been counted.

Of the 256,635 voters registered within the 66th District, only 54,334 people cast their ballots in Tuesday's primary election. Muratsuchi received 22,225 votes; Huey received 20,939; and Mintz received 11,170.
