Polystyrene Ban on its Way; City Council Set to Approve New Ordinance

On Tuesday night, the Manhattan Beach City Council approved an ordinance to ban the use of polystyrene by restaurants, grocery stores, drive-thrus, coffee shops, food trucks, caterers, the farmers market and city facilities.

The ordinance will now be put on the Sept. 3 City Council agenda for a second reading and proposed adoption. If council passes the agenda item, the ban will take effect after 30 days.
