Taste of MB A Fun Event

Local establishments share their best dining and drinks to a sold-out crowd of some 450-500 guests. Next up is the centennial parade and historic picnic on Saturday, May 19.

On Sunday, March 25, the Manhattan Beach Centennial Committee hosted the Taste of Manhattan Beach with cuisine from local restaurants, beer and wine tastings, live music and other entertainment. Due to the storm that blew in from the north, the entire event, including the free Eco-Market, was held under large white tents. Growing Wild floral designs graced the tables.

With some 450-500 guests in attendance, the event was filled with the aromas of fine cooking. Celebrity Chef  Brian Malarkey, past Top Chef finalist, and Devin Alexander, a best-selling New York Times cookbook author and MB resident, each presented a cooking demonstration for the crowd. Artworks by the winners of the annual Neptunian Woman's Club's student art contest were on exhibit as well. Participating restaurants included Cafe Pierre, Darren's Restaurant, Pancho's, Rock'N Fish, Simmzy's, Tin Roof Bistro, Cafe Rio, among others.

The next event being offered by the nonprofit centennial committee this year to commemorate the city's 100th anniversary [which is Dec. 12, 2012] is a parade and historical picnic on Saturday, May 19. The free-to-watch parade will begin at 10 a.m. and proceed from downtown on Manhattan Beach Boulevard to Polliwog Park, where the picnic will be held.
