Third Water Shut Down Scheduled for Maintenance Project

Los Angeles County Waterworks District 29 is close to finishing upgrades to its primary water supply interconnection with the Metropolitan Water District, the water wholesaler for the Malibu area.

A brief water shut down will take place in the early hours of Saturday morning in Malibu as part of a Los Angeles County Waterworks District 29 project, but customers should not see any interruption in service.

The first shut down will begin early Saturday, Jan. 29, according to a statement posted on the city of Malibu's website.

Los Angeles County Waterworks District 29 is nearing completion of a construction project to upgrade its primary water supply interconnection with the Metropolitan Water District (MWD), the water wholesaler for the Malibu area.

The completed project will improve water pressure throughout the area and will involve four temporary shutdowns of the interconnection with MWD in January and February.

The shutdown, which is the third, is set for three hours on Jan. 29. The final, 24-hour long shutdown is scheduled for the end of February.

During these shutdowns District 29 will be relying on water stored in tanks and supplies from emergency connections to meet water demands.

I hope people put their water sprinklers on rain delay today. This is a huge project down at Sawtelle and Venice. They have the whole street dug up. And people are always quick to blast the hapless folks at WW29. I think they deserve kudos for doing this when the fire danger and water demand are both low.
