Weekend Planner: Veterans Day, Turkey Day Samples, and More

Honor our country's veterans in MB today at 11 a.m., catch a hilarious play at Mira Costa tonight or tomorrow, take a walk on the beach, get in the Thanksgiving mood at Grow... Here are some fun things to do this weekend.

Where and when: Veterans Monument, Veterans Parkway, Valley Drive and 15th Street, Manhattan Beach; Friday, 11 a.m.

Why go: Honor our local veterans and those who have and are serving our nation. It's important to take a pause from our daily lives to remember those who have provided us with our freedom.

Where and when: Mira Costa High School Auditorium, 1401 Artesia Blvd., Hermosa Beach; Friday, 7:30 p.m. Saturday, 2 and 7:30 p.m.

Price: $15 adults/$12 seniors and students at the door; $12 /$10 pre-sale.

Where and when: Hermosa Beach Pier 1 Pier Ave., Hermosa Beach; Saturday, 7 a.m.

Why go: Take a morning run through the sand from the Hermosa Beach Pier to the Manhattan Beach Pier and back. Once the run's over, stay for the party and prizes.

GROW: THANKSGIVING MEAL SAMPLES FROM TIN ROOF BISTRO

Where and when: Grow: The Produce Shop, 1830 N. Sepulveda Blvd., Manhattan Beach; Saturday, 12 noon until the samples run out

Why go: This is your last chance to sample some of the Thanksgiving meal side dishes you can pre-order from Grow. The dishes come from Tin Roof Bistro in Manhattan Beach and are Sweet potato Gratin with Roasted Pecans and Spicy Italian Sausage/HeirloomApple/Cranberry and Sage Dressing. Yum!

Where and when: Hermosa Beach Playhouse, 710 Pier Ave., Hermosa Beach; Saturday, 8 p.m.

Why go: Dancers, musicians, actors and others will take to the stage to honor veterans of the United States military. A reception with the cast will follow the performance.

Where and when: Redondo Beach Performing Arts Center, 1935 Manhattan Beach Blvd., Redondo Beach; Sunday, 7 p.m.

Why go: Listen to award-winning and internationally renowned duo Hapa's Hawaiian sounds.
