Boys Volleyball Rated No. 3 in Coaches Poll

The Mira Costa High team drops from No. 1 to No. 3 in a new coaches poll after tying for fifth in tournament they won last year.

The Mira Costa boys volleyball team has been ranked third behind Loyola and Servite, respectively, in a just released CIF-Southern Section–Ford Championships Top 10 Poll.

The team was reported as holding the No. 1 spot in a February 26 article on Manhattan Beach Patch.

The team was not able to defend its 2011 Best of the West Tournament title, finishing in a fifth place tie in this year's competition last weekend, according to the team's boosters website. Westview and Loyola beat the team; the Mustangs defeated Dos Pueblos, Long Beach Poly and Huntington Beach.

Hungtinton Beach is ranked No. 5 and Palos Verdes No. 9 in the poll.

The Mustangs play Orange Lutheran there on Tuesday, March 13 at 6 p.m. and plays rival Redondo Union on Thursday, March 15 at 7 p.m. at RUHS.
