Cheer, Song and Football Raise Funds

Fundraising is big with the Mira Costa Cheer and Song Squad. They partnered with the football team to hold a fundraising event that included free public e-waste recycling and a car wash on Sept. 17, and then held their own cheer clinic on Sept. 29.

The Mira Costa High School cheer and football squads joined together to offer free public e-waste recycling and a car wash on Sept. 17. Students had lots of fun during the fundraiser, taking turns washing and drying vehicles, squirting each other and hamming it up.

The cheer program also held a fundraising cheer clinic for elementary school students on Sept. 29 in the Mira Costa cafeteria. About 30 elementary girls participated in cheering, dance, games and arts and crafts during the six-hour event.

The elementary school participants will perform with the varsity cheer squad during the first quarter of Friday night's 7 p.m. home football game.
