Fog Postpones Mira Costa Surf Competition

Heavy fog at El Porto in Manhattan Beach on Wednesday morning forced officials to reschedule the surf matchup between Mira Costa and El Segundo high schools until Thursday.

Coaches and officials said the visibility was too limited and judges would have been unable to see the jersey colors on the surfers for scoring.

Although the fog was expected to burn off as the morning wore on, the student competitors had to get to school on time and the competition was called off for the day.
