Latest Vote Tally Keeps Top 3 Candidates Status Quo

The numbers don't change much for the four candidates running for three open seats on the Manhattan Beach Unified School District board of trustees.

The most recent vote tally by the Los Angeles County Registrar-Recorder is now in and available.

Incumbent school board member Ellen Rosenberg, Jennifer Cochran and Christine Cronin-Hurst, who took home the most votes Election Night Tuesday, continue to remain in the top three slots, respectively.

Rosenberg, who claimed 30.12 percent of the vote with 2,915 ballots cast for her, now has 29.97 percent with 3,289 votes. Cochran netted 26.86 percent of the vote with 2,600 ballots marked for her Tuesday night, and now has 26.88 percent of the vote with 2,950 ballots for her. Cronin-Hurst received 23.27 percent of the vote, equalling 2,252 ballots cast, and as of Friday has 23.32 percent of the vote with 2560 ballots cast for her.

Kathleen Paralusz, who came in fourth Tuesday night with 19.75 of the vote, totaling 1,912 ballots, remains in fourth with 19.83 percent and 2,177 votes.

The new totals include ballots processed since Election Night, consisting entirely of Vote by Mail ballots, said Dean C. Logan, the Los Angeles County Registrar-Recorder/County Clerk.

The second ballot counting update is Tuesday, Nov. 12 at 1 p.m. Results are still subject to change throughout the canvass period, which ends on Nov. 25.

The new school board members will be sworn in in December. Incumbent Rosenberg is currently serving her first term.

The Los Angeles County Registrar-Recorder is scheduled to certify election results on Monday, Nov. 25. The Board of Supervisors is tentatively scheduled to declare the results official on Tuesday, Nov. 26.

The state of California gives the county 28 days to certify the results, making the first initial projections unofficial until the certification and official declaration happens.
