Previous Sex Offender Arrested

A 14-year-old girl had reported the suspect to police.

A 30-year-old man arrested in 2005 for indecent exposure was arrested for Annoying or Molesting Children, and Stalking by Manhattan Beach Police detectives Wednesday around 3:30 p.m.

The man, a Redondo Beach resident, allegedly had been harassing a 14-year-old female Mira Costa High School student recently. The youth had told police that a male adult driving a gold/brown 1999 Chevy 4-door, California License plate 4EVG636 had stared at her, making her feel uncomfortable on two separate occasions, said Stephanie Martin, MBPD public information officer.

The incidents occurred as the girl left school around 3:45 p.m. and was standing near the intersection of Peck Avenue and Nelson Avenue, waiting for a parent to pick her up.

Due to the nature of the alleged offense, the suspect’s photograph and name are being withheld until the investigation is completed. Police want to be able to conduct impartial interviews, said Martin.

MBPD does not believe there are additional victims, however, they are recommending that parents speak with their children and if they feel they have been victimized by this suspect to report it to police.
