Vote Tally Signals 3 Winners for Manhattan Beach School Board Seats

Four candidates ran for three open seats.

Incumbent school board member Ellen Rosenberg, Jennifer Cochran and Christine Cronin-Hurst have been elected to the Manhattan Beach Unified School District school board, according to county tabulations as of 11:13 p.m. Tuesday night.

With all 12 precincts reporting and vote-by-mail ballots counted, Rosenberg claimed 30.12 percent of the vote with 2,915 ballots cast for her. Cochran netted an impressive 26.86 percent of the vote with 2,600 ballots marked for her. Cronin-Hurst received 23.27 percent of the vote, equalling 2,252 ballots cast her way.

Kathleen Paralusz came in fourth with 19.75 of the vote, totaling 1,912 ballots.

The new school board members will be sworn in in December.

Incumbent Rosenberg ran uncontested for the board in 2009.

The Los Angeles County Registrar-Recorder is scheduled to certify election results on Monday, Nov. 25. The Board of Supervisors is tentatively scheduled to declare the results official on Tuesday, Nov. 26.

The state of California gives the county 28 days to certify the results, making the first initial projections unofficial until the certification and official declaration happens.
