Weekend: E-Waste Recycling, Car Wash
With an international coastal cleanup, a concert to support animal rescue and an E-waste recycling event, this weekend is all about keeping the community safe, healthy and happy.
Where and when: 325 S. Peck Ave., Manhattan Beach; Saturday, 9 a.m. – 4 p.m.
Why go: Get rid of that old dusty VCR or monitor responsibly by dropping off your no-longer-needed electronics at this free E-waste event put on by the Mira Costa High School Football and Cheer programs along with All Green Electronics Recycling. And why not get a car wash, too?

These are items you can bring to the e-waste collection: computers, mobile phones, TVs, computer parts, toner cartridges, monitors, laptops, DVD players, VCRs, telephones, cables/wires, printers, portable electronics, iPods, calculators and small electronics.
Price: Free to recycle. Car wash is a fundraiser.

Where and when: Manhattan Beach Pier, end of Manhattan Beach Boulevard, Manhattan Beach; Saturday, 8 a.m. – 11 a.m.
Why go: Join the world’s largest volunteer effort for ocean health and meet up with Ocean Conservancy’s International Coastal Cleanup this Saturday morning. Let’s keep our beaches beautiful!

Why go: Can’t wait until St. Patrick’s Day? Neither can the Young Dubliners! The high-energy Irish rock band will be celebrating in grand style at the ½ Irish Party, marking exactly six months to St. Paddy’s. Also performing this night are Hoist the Colors and Lexington Field. 21 and over, please.

Where and when: Hermosa Valley School, 1645 Valley Drive, Hermosa Beach; Sunday, 12 p.m. – 7 p.m.
Why go: Bring a group of 4-6 people and race to solve a series of fun puzzles, obstacles and clues with Golden Heart Ranch, a parent-created organization dedicated to building a lifelong residential community for young people with special needs.

CONCERT TO SUPPORT ANIMAL RESCUE
Where and when: Strings Connection, 716 Deep Valley Drive, Rolling Hills Estates; Sunday, 4 p.m.
Why go: End the weekend with this informal concert by all types of musicians to benefit Diamonds in the Ruff, a nonprofit organization that rescues abused or abandoned animals.
