Weekend Spotlight: Kevin and Cameron Protiva

The father-son duo are interviewed while they shoot hoops on their driveway in front of their house Friday night.

There are a ton of firsts happening this weekend for the Protiva family of Manhattan Beach.

Pennekamp Elementary student and athlete Cameron, 6, will attend his first football party, his first T-ball game and his first flag football game. He'll also play in the last basketball game of the season, attend a basketball team party and perform in Saturday night's talent show at Pennekamp.

His dad Kevin joked with MB Patch that this was probably the family's busiest weekend of the year. How funny that MB Patch happened to stop by to ask about their weekend!

Kevin told MB Patch the family moved from Redondo Beach to MB a few years ago. Cameron and his older sister Emily attend Pennekamp. Emily will perform in the school's talent show, too.

Cameron, dribbling and shooting hoops in his driveway, had a keen eye for the basket, making most of his shots and attempting some pretty hard-to-hit shot angles. He definitely was dribbling up a storm. Dad Kevin retrieved his son's shots and passed the ball to Cameron so the kid could practice his magic.

Kevin says Cameron, who is left-handed, isn't the best kid in basketball and he's not the worst. Judging by his energy and the precision of his shots, MB Patch thinks Cameron is pretty darn awesome.

Happy Weekend Protiva fam!
