Better Surf a Drive Away

This stretch of coast is being blocked by the latest swell so you might want to get in the car and head elsewhere for waves worth catching.

Good Tuesday morning surfers, I'm Surf Junkie Jeff with your Manhattan Beach Patch surf report. Well, unfortunately the latest energy isn't getting into this stretch of coastline. So, if you have the time, you'll want to do a little driving to a more exposed south facing break.

The conditions are starting off pretty clean and glassy, with a minimal amount of south southwesterly swell and very little northwest energy. That recipe is only offering this neck of the woods some weak crumbly lines, with a few fun ones on the small wave equipment.

Most spots in Manhattan Beach are running about knee high, with the focal points pulling thigh high waves, with a few waist high sets.

Taking a look at those tides...at 7 this morning it climbs way up to a 5.4 high which won't help things either due to the lack of energy. So you might want to wait for that tide to turn around a drop a bit.  It eventually drains out to a negative 0.5 low at 1:51 this afternoon, according to the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration.

If you're going to get wet, throw on at least a 3/2 fullsuit or a 4/3 and possibly the booties, with the water temp hanging between 56 and 57 degrees. See ya in the water.

FYI...remember the County Health Department urges surfers and swimmers to stay out of the ocean for at least 72 hours after a rain, especially near storm drains, river mouths and harbor entrances.
