Choppy Surf Out There

Approaching storm means there's not much to work with wavewise.

Waking up with the waves on Monday, I'm Surf Junkie Jeff with your Manhattan Beach Patch surf report. Well, it's looking pretty stormy out there today. So definitely don't put paddling at the top of your to-do list!!

The conditions are pretty lousy thanks to the steady west northwest wind, which is likely to worsen throughout the day. Most spots are seeing quite a bit of chop on it.

We've got a combination of some increasing west northwest wind and storm swell. That recipe is providing some fairly chewed up crumbly lines, with not much to work with!

Most Manhattan Beach spots are pulling waist to chest high waves, with the standout breaks seeing a few shoulder high plus sets.

Taking a look at those tides thanks to the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration. At 10:16 this morning it pushes up to a 4.1 high and then drops to a 0.9 low at 4:07 this afternoon.

If you're really desperate to get wet, you'll want to wear a 4/3 fullsuit and possibly the booties, with the water temperature averaging between 55 and 57 degrees.

FYI...County Health Officials urge surfers and swimmers to stay out of the ocean after a rain for at least 72 hours, especially near river mouths, harbor entrances and storm drains.
