Indigo Monk Makes Juniors World Team

The Manhattan Beach snowboarder will compete in Spain at the end of March in slopestyle.

Indigo Monk, 17, of Manhattan Beach, has been named to the 2012 FIS Snowboard Junior World Championships Team for U.S. Snowboarding, according to USSA. She will compete in Sierra Nevada, Spain at the end of March.

She is one of two California residents to make the team which competes in halfpipe, snowboardcross, alpine snowboard and slopestyle and is one of four females chosen for the women's slopestyle division.

Junior Worlds is for athletes between the ages of 13 and 19. Slopestyle snowboarders were invited based on finishes at the U.S. Revolution Tour and Mammoth Mountain Sprint U.S. Grand Prix.
