Playful Waves in Manhattan Beach Today

Grab your board and get in the water! Today's surf should be lots of fun.

Waking up with the waves on Friday, I'm Surf Junkie Jeff with your Manhattan Beach Patch surf report. Well, the run of fun size surf is hanging around for another day. Yep, there's plenty of playful size waves out there!

We're starting off with some nice and clean conditions early on, with mostly modest south swell and just a touch of the northwest energy in the water. That recipe is offering some fast drained out sectiony lines, with some good shoulders to grab.

Most Manhattan Beach spots are running about waist to shoulder high, with the breaks that pick up the most southerly energy seeing head high sets.

Checking the tides, according to the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration, at 6:28 this morning it drained out to a negative 1.0 low, which will have many spots lacking water early to mid-morning. Your best bet is once that tide turns around and fills-in a bit. It eventually pushes up to a 3.8 high at 1:12 this afternoon.

If you're planning on paddling, throw on at least a 3/2 fullsuit, with the water temperature hanging between 58 and 59 degrees. Have fun out there!
