Plenty of Fun Action So Go Hit the Waves!

Some fast sectiony lines and steep shoulders are waiting to be caught. Waist to shoulder high waves today.

Good Thursday morning surfers, I'm Surf Junkie Jeff with your Manhattan Beach Patch surf report. Well, there's a pretty good amount of action out there, so do yourself a favor and go get wet!

The conditions are starting off mostly clean, with a nice mix of energy. We're seeing some new south swell and some decent holding west northwest windswell in the water.

That recipe is offering some fast sectiony lines, with some steep shoulders to pick off. Most Manhattan Beach spots are pulling waist to shoulder high waves, with the top combo breaks seeing some head high sets.

Taking a look at the tides, according to the National Oceanic Atmospheric Administration, at 5:39 early this morning it drained out to a negative 1.4 low, which will have many spots really lacking water early on. The tide then climbs back up to a 3.9 high at 12:14 this afternoon and then drops once again to a 2.1 low at 4:52 this afternoon.

If you're planning on paddling, you'll want to wear at least a 3/2 fullsuit or better yet a 4/3 and possibly even the booties, with the water temperature dropping again and averaging between 56 and 58 degrees. See ya in the water!

FYI. County health officials urge surfers and swimmers to stay out of the ocean after a rain for at least 72 hours due to the possibility of increased bacteria levels, especially near river mouths, storm drains and harbor entrances.
