Plenty of Playful Waves

Fun surf, so get out there.

Waking up with the waves on Monday, I'm Surf Junkie Jeff with your Manhattan Beach Patch surf report. Well, we're seeing plenty of playful waves along this stretch of coast. However, you can expect the local lineups to be kind of crowded due to the holiday!

We're starting off with some pretty clean conditions, with a mixture of some residual west northwest ground and windswell and a tad of southwesterly energy in the background.

That recipe is offering some drained out semi-walled lines, with some fun pick and choose corners. Most spots in Manhattan Beach are running about knee to chest high, with the focal points pulling shoulder high waves, with maybe a plus set.

At 5:11 early this morning the tide dropped to a 0.1 low and then pushes back up to a 4.5 high at 11:11 later this morning and then drops again to a 0.4 low at 5:05 this evening, according to the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration.

If you're going to get wet, then throw on at least a 3/2 fullsuit or a 4/3 and maybe the booties, with the water temperature averaging between 56 and 57 degrees. See ya in the water!

FYI. County Health Officials urge surfers and swimmers to stay out of the ocean after rainfall for at least 72 hours, especially near river mouths, storm drains and harbor entrances.
