Surf Fiesta Benefits Jimmy Miller Foundation

South Bay surfers raise money and awareness at the 6th annual Jimmy Miller Surf Fiesta.

Surfers young and old gathered at El Porto Beach early Wednesday morning for a bit of fun at the Jimmy Miller Surf Fiesta. Proceeds from the annual event benefit the Jimmy Miller Memorial Foundation, a non-profit that teaches healing through surfing and ocean-related activities.

Participants were split into color-coded teams with the objective of getting all team members to successfully catch a wave.

"The surfing has been strong all the way from the little kids to the older guys," said Keith Whitmer, a surf judge.

An evening after-party featuring an auction and awards was held at Sangria in Hermosa Beach.
