Wind Helps Conditions Deteriorate

Bump and chop on the surface with maybe a few pick and choose corners.

Waking up with the waves on Friday, I'm Surf Junkie Jeff with your Manhattan Beach Patch surf report. Well, unfortunately this latest storm brought some wind with it and that's causing the deteriorating conditions!

We're seeing some bump or chop on the surface, with a good combination of energy out there. There's mostly modest west northwest and northwest swells and some southerly energy in the mix.

That recipe is providing some sorta disorganized crumbly lines, with maybe a few pick and choose corners. Most Manhattan Beach spots are running about waist to shoulder high plus, with the top combo spots pulling head high waves, with a few plus sets.

At 7:16 this morning, the tide dropped to a 0.3 low, which will have many breaks needing water mid-morning. The tide then climbs back up to a 2.8 high at 2 this afternoon, according to the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Association.

If you're planning on paddling, then you'll want to wear at least a 3/2 fullsuit and possibly the booties, with the water temperature averaging between 57 and 58 degrees. Good luck out there!!

FYI: The county health department urges surfers and swimmers to stay out of the ocean for at least 72 hours after a rain due to the likelihood of increased bacteria levels, especially near river mouths, storm drains and harbor entrances.
