When Your EL Wire Gives Out: Elastolite!
Did you ever spend hours sewing on EL Wire only to have it give out a week later? I did!
BIG news! I'd thought that this could happen after I went to the Smart Fabrics Conference in San Francisco earlier this year... At Fisherman's Wharf, no less!
ORYON Technologies, which makes the awesome background lighting used in the Tron: Legacy movie is FINALLY going to a retail format with ELastoLite, their very cool, colored, lighted tech solution. It will be available in early September on Colorado based Maker and Hacker retailer darling SparkFun.

Now, I don't know what they charge. My disclosure is that I did receive a sample of this product earlier this year and LOVED it!
Why do I love it? It's CRUSHABLE, MANGLEABLE, PLIABLE, FLEXIBLE... sorry, I know I'm yelling... I'll tone it down a bit... I 'm just very excited right now.
If you don't know why this is such a big deal... Have you ever worked with EL Wire? I'd spent a fair amount of time sewing on an EL wire to my jacket for my bike ride home... Perhaps you were at the volleyball game near Mothers' Beach when I did it.
Well, sad to say my wire got caught in something a week later and now, all my work is... Kaput. There's always the soldering iron.
But if you don't like to tinker or hack - or can't because you need a reliable solution - or if you just want to make an authentic Tron: Legacy costume - it's really great and it's reliable.
It's reliable. That's it!
