Baseball Boys on Brink of Junior World Series

The Manhattan Beach Little League All-Stars play Saturday and Monday in Washington in the hopes of making it to the Junior World Series. You can watch the action online. Links are in the article.

Representing the league for the first time ever in regional playoffs in their age category, the Manhattan Beach Little League Junior All-Stars (13 to 14 year olds) continued their tear by defeating Missoula, MO, 14-0 at the Western Regionals on Thursday in Vancouver, WA, and take on a Beaverton, OR team Saturday at 4 p.m.

The win came on a combined one-hitter from pitchers Robert White, Will Proctor and Blake Hammerstein. The team is now 2-0 in the regional tournament. Its other win, 15-5, came against Columbia Little League, the tournament host.

Managed and coached by Ira Smith and Keith Ramsey, the team's record is 15-1, as they've won District, Section, Sub-Regional and Southern California Regional tournaments on their way to the tournament in Washington.

Their play in the four-game pool tournament will determine if they advance as the West representative for the Junior World Series in Taylor, MI.

The team members are Reese Alexiades, Matt Beserra, Tommy Bothwell, Zack Chan, Brett Davis, Trevor Franklin, Blake Hammerstein, Ryan May, Jackson Michalski, Rollie Nichols, Will Proctor, Hunter Tiedemann and Robert White.
