Farmers Market May 29: Stone Fruit, Herbs, Veggies

The Manhattan Beach Farmers Market is now open every Tuesday until 5 p.m. downtown at 13th Street and Morningside Drive.

Stone fruit, almond butter, herbs, vegetables and strawberries are among the items offered at today's Manhattan Beach Farmers Market taking place until 5 p.m. downtown at 13th Street and Morningside Drive.

Tulare and Brooks cherries are available, as are white and yellow nectarines, white and yellow peaches, donut peaches, apricots and bite-size apriums, according to Susan Hillyer, market manager, who says today's vendors include Erickson Farm, Arnett, MB Farms, Santiago, Atkins Nursery, Dates DaVall and Fat Uncle Almonds.

Hillyer says Fat Uncle Almonds' Roasted Almond Honey Butter "Looks and is amazing!"

She also wants gardeners to know of the 17 different varieties of herb and vegetable plants Atkins is offering, which include mint, basil, rosemary, peppers and tomatoes.

Anyone interested in volunteering for a couple of hours at a future market on Tuesday should contact Hillyer by email, susan@californiaproduced.com. Volunteers learn about the farmers and food vendors, according to Hillyer, who says she needs help  "any time between 9:30 a.m. and 6 p.m.
