MB Farmers Market June 19

Moua Family Farms is a new vendor at the market today. They specialize in Asian crops and are revered at the West Hollywood Farmers Market. Today's market has grass-fed beef, wild black cod, avocado oil, fruits and more.

A recipe for delicious, healthy cabbage salad can be yours if you arrive at the Manhattan Beach Farmers Market today until 5 p.m. The Los Angeles County Nutrition Program is offering a cooking demonstration using cabbage and other farmers market finds, according to Market Manager Susan Hillyer.

The market is welcoming new vendor Moua Family Farms, known for its Asian crops. Today the Mouas are offering ginger, long beans, squash, herbs, bell peppers, tomatoes, lemongrass and bok choy.

Novy Beef  is on hand, featuring grass-fed angus beef short ribs, said Hillyer. Specialties from other vendors include wild, local black cod [aka butter fish] and Schreiner's fine sausages, including a flavorful chicken sausage with lemon and cilantro.

Other market delectables include ciabiattini from Manhattan Bread and Bagel, organic sandwich bread [free of gluten, wheat, dairy, nuts, soy and corn] from The Good Cookie, avocado oil, cherries, honey marzipan from Fat Uncle, organic tomatoes, squashes and cucumbers from Smith farms, and a new white balsamic with a light, less acidic taste "because the grape has been skinned," said Hillyer.

Domenico's is featuring a "Two for One Pasta" buy: choose from bucatini, spaghetti, penne, rigatoni, linguini, fettuccine and pappardelle. You can receive free pasta with the purchase of a pesto, too, said Hillyer.
