Photo of the Day: Neighborhood Watch Crime Fighters in Training!

Kids of all ages had fun during National Night Out, a nationwide annual event that brings neighbors together to fight crime and prevent drug use. These five young ladies were all smiles during their block's celebration in Manhattan Beach.

Several "blocks" in Manhattan Beach had a great time while participating in the city's National Night Out activities on Aug. 7. Some staged barbecues, others ice cream socials as neighbors got together in spirited fashion.

MB Police Chief Eve Irvine and Officer Stephanie Martin visited participating Neighborhood Watch blocks to meet and greet residents.

Sponsored by the National Association of Town Watch, NNO participants included more than 15,000 communities from the United States, U.S. territories, Canadian cities and military bases around the world.
