Photos: Police Officers Get Dunked for a Good Cause

Manhattan Beach Police Department personnel are joined by area law enforcement staff in a fundraising effort on behalf of the Wounded Warrior Project.

The Manhattan Beach Police Department helped raise $3,807 for the Wounded Warrior Project by hosting a Dunk a Cop dunk tank last weekend at the Manhattan Beach Hometown Fair.

"A huge thanks goes out to our South Bay community of law enforcement that sat in the tank and weathered the cold water getting dunked," said Officer Stephanie Martin of the Manhattan Beach Police Department, "as well as our community who showed up to support us and our returning veterans. Much appreciated."

In addition to Manhattan Beach law enforcement staff that sat in the dunk tank and staffed the booth at the fair, police officers from other area agencies participated, including Jon Sibbald of the Hermosa Beach Police Department.

For $5, a person could throw three balls at the mark to dunk the person sitting in the tank. If the thrower was successful, they received a "Dunked With Honor" Wounded Warrior T-shirt.

The Manhattan Beach Police Officers' Association paid the cost of the dunk tank rental, said Martin.
