Will You Be Ready When Disaster Strikes?

The South Bay Show continues its Friday 7 a.m. shows with an expert on terrorism and disaster preparedness. Call in to the show with your questions.

"Terrorism and Disaster Preparedness" will be the subject of the Friday, June 29 "The South Bay Show," a live show on Blog Talk Radio produced by Manhattan Beach resident and MB Community Emergency Response Team President George Butts and Patch blogger Jackie Balestra with host Joe Terry.

The featured guest Friday will be Kathy Dollarhide, RN, BSN, CEN, terrorism and disaster preparedness coordinator for the St. Mary Medical Center Disaster Resource Center.

Dollarhide coordinates disaster management for all of the hospitals from Catalina Island to Downey, CA, running large mass casualty multi-agency drills. She is a certified HAZMAT Instructor via the California Specialized Training Institute and teaches nationally.

Prior to her current position at the St. Mary Medical Center, she was the emergency preparedness consultant at the Harbor-UCLA Medical Center Disaster Resource Center, and was the American Heart Association Community Training Coordinator for the Harbor-UCLA Medical Center.

Her additional credits include being a training officer for the Defense Medical Readiness Training Institute for the Department of Defense at Fort Sam Houston; working as a contract civilian faculty member to teach the troops in pre-deployment courses on trauma and stabilization of critically wounded victims, and for five years was a faculty member of the Combat Care Casualty Training programs for the United States Army.
