Casey Meserve
I'm honest and sometimes blunt, but I always mean well. I love beating the competition at their own game. I pride myself on getting it right before anyone else gets the story. I'm very excited about covering Plymouth again and I'm happy to see that people seem to remember me with some pleasure.
Contact me at casey.meserve@patch.com or 508-209-3820. My Beliefs At Patch, we promise always to report the facts as objectively as possible and otherwise adhere to the principles of good journalism. However, we also acknowledge that true impartiality is impossible because human beings have beliefs. So in the spirit of simple honesty, our policy is to encourage our editors to reveal their beliefs to the extent they feel comfortable. This disclosure is not a license for you to inject your beliefs into stories or to dictate coverage according to them. In fact, the intent is the opposite: we hope that the knowledge that your beliefs are on the record will cause you to be ever mindful to write, report and edit in a fair, balanced way. And if you ever see evidence that we failed in this mission, please let us know. Politics I'm a delightfully wacky liberal with a socialist bend. To me, being a liberal means having the ability to hold various beliefs that don't always merge smoothly and are sometimes downright contradictory, and that's OK. I believe in fiscal responsibility, at the same time that I beleive that it's the government's responsibility to mitigate social problems. I believe if we're going to send soldiers to other countries to fight for our busines interests, we had better be willing to take care of those veterans for the rest of their lives. I believe in the individual's right do whatever he or she wants with his or her own body and life. I believe that as adults, no person has the right tell you what's right. That is up to you and your conscience. Religion My mother was Lutheran and I went to church as a kid. My dad is agnostic. I think I'm an atheist, but I haven't decided. I love Christmas songs. I believe that science is the law and art is humanity's way of flexing that law. Local Hot-Button Issues What do you think are the most important issues facing the community? Where do you stand on each of these issues? Oh, where to start? Budgets, schools, Pilgrim One, Plymouth Beach, 2020, planning, development: 104 square miles and nearly 60,000 people make a city, or does it? I've covered too many government study committees/charter commissions to know anymore. Do elected part-time officials deserve benefits? That's for our bloggers to answer.
