Nicole Elizabeth Franco lives in Hermosa Beach and finds describing herself a most odious task.

Nicole won her first award for writing at the age of 5. She was the first kindergartner in the history of the state of Georgia to use a simile. Thus began the flood of prose, blank verse, imabs, dactyls, screenplays, and novels.

Nicole's favorite works are her recently-completed 500-page novel "Driving Without Hands" and the screenplay which inspired it "Mi Quebranto Mundial." She is also particularly fond of any work that garnered a large cash prize.

Nicole attempted to secede from the US in 2008 when gas prices hit $4.00/gallon for regular unleaded. She declared herself monarch of a fledgling principality. Her Serene Highness ran into a small problem: among the six points for a micro-nation to be considered valid is physical land. (Ciberspace has yet to be recognized.) Alas, the succession has been temporarily put on hold.

Nicole often says she had a "gypsy childhood." She attended seven grammar schools before the age of 10. No, she was not an "army brat." (She was a "cheese brat", thank you.)

She's lived in Milwaukee, WI; Norcross, GA; Boston, MA; Wyckoff, NJ; Saratoga Springs, NY; Madrid, Spain; Manchester, England; the Bronx and Brooklyn... then she finally arrived here in Hermosa Beach.

Nicole is completely bilingual in Spanish and English, can fake her way through Italian and Portuguese and sometimes misses living in Europe. She enjoys reading almost as much as writing, is an impressive dancer for an amateur, adores film, travel and history.

Nicole has a BA in creative writing (prerequisite completion of the English language and literature major) and a minor in Spanish. She graduated magna cum laude from Skidmore College in Saratoga Springs, NY.
