Blackout Planned for Manhattan Beach

About 3,500 Southern California Edison customers are expected to be without power from 10 p.m. Friday, Sept. 20 until 8 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 21, said Scott Gobble of SCE. The outage will allow SCE to perform system upgrades to the substation at Duncan and Dianthus streets in Manhattan Beach.

Customers ranging from Fourth Street in Hermosa Beach to 16th Street in Manhattan Beach from the ocean to Sepulveda Boulevard could be affected.

This will be the second planned outage due to upgrades at the substation. The other outage happened on June 26. During the June planned outage, some customers did not get power back at the designated time, instead being restored hours later due to "unforeseen physical obstacles."
