Residents who'd like to learn about crime and its prevention in Manhattan Beach can check out Police Chief Eve R. Irvin's crime prevention presentations given this past week.

Chief Irvine gave a presentation to City Council on Sept. 3 during their regularly scheduled meeting and reprised it Sept. 4 for people who didn't catch it the previous night.

The presentations came on the heels of an increase in residential burglaries in Manhattan Beach in August, including one in which residents were tied up, one pistol-whipped.

In addition, three teenage boys were robbed of their cell phones walking home from high school during daylight hours. The perpetrator had a gun.
