Sign Up for the Community Police Academy
The free program gives the public a look at police operations. Enrollment is limited.
If you live or work in Manhattan Beach, you may be eligible to participate in the 2014 Community Police Academy held by the Manhattan Beach Police Department.
The academy gives participants an informative and hands-on overview of the fundamentals of police procedures, programs and policies. Each class will highlight select divisions (i.e. patrol, SWAT, K-9, traffic and detectives) of MBPD, with instruction by police officers, support personnel and management staff.
The first class will be held on Thursday, Jan. 19, 2014 from 6-9 p.m. in the community room of the police and fire building at 420 15th Street. Classes will continue every Thursday, with a graduation ceremony on March 13.

To participate, you must submit an application (attached in PDF format here) and meet the following criteria:
- At least 18 years old
- Reside or work within the city of Manhattan Beach
- Not have any felony convictions
- Not be wanted for any crime
- Submit to a limited background check that will include any warrants and criminal history.
