Ceremony Remembers Fallen Officers

Manhattan Beach residents gather to honor policemen killed in the line of duty at the 5th Annual Peace Officer Memorial Ceremony.

As law enforcement agencies across the nation observe Police Week, Manhattan Beach paid tribute to its own fallen officers Saturday morning. City officials, public safety workers and the families of fallen servicemen paid tribute to officers Charles Frederick Grau, Richard Timothy Giles and Martin Lane Ganz in an hour-long ceremony.

Held on the police and fire department premises, the memorial included taps, a dove release and remembrance tributes from members of the Manhattan Beach Police Department.

"By honoring our fallen, we remember their story, their life, and remind their surviving family members that they will always be a part of our family," said Officer Stephanie Martin.
