Updated: Two People Stabbed at Marine Ave. Park

When confronted, a man who was puncturing tires in a city park parking lot responded by allegedly slashing and stabbing one person and stabbing another, said Manhattan Beach Police Detective Mike Rosenberger.

The incident took place between 10:55 and 11 p.m. on Dec. 26 in the parking lot of Marine Avenue Park, 1625 Marine Avenue. The two stabbing victims declined medical treatment, said Rosenberger.

The suspect used what the victims described as something like an ice pick. They opted to let the man flee after they were wounded, Rosenberger said.

Police believe a suspect left some personal items behind, including identification, however, they have yet to confirm whether or not the person in the identification is the suspect.

Rosenberger said once police have a photo of the man whose identification was at the scene, the victims will have a chance to look at it to see if the man is the suspect.

He told Patch Friday night that police plan to show a photo line-up to the victims sometime next week. Police believe the suspect may be a transient from out of the state.
