City Council Member Wayne Powell In Low Earth Orbit

This evening, Manhattan Beach City Council Member Wayne Powell was sworn in as a member of the Board of Directors of the Independent Cities Association. The event was held at the Columbia Memorial Space Center in Downey. Independent Cities Association educates and advocates for member cities in the Los Angeles region on shared issues to preserve and enhance local government.

City representatives in attendance at the installation dinner included City Manager David Carmany, Fire Chief Robert Espinosa, Finance Director Bruce Moe, Director of Community Development Richard Thompson

The Independent Cities Association is a no nonsense organization governed by a 26 member Board of Directors elected by the member cities. The combined population of ICA members cities is approximately 7 million.

ICA is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit, public benefit corporation that was established in 1961 by the full service cities in Southern California to represent the interests of the member cities collectively.
